I just received a check from the Hooker v Sirius XM class
action lawsuit that was initiated a few years ago. I was
expecting to see something like $ 0.73 as my portion of
the settlement. Turns out I got a check for $81.46.
Hope some of you are getting surprise checks??

Something to think about. If there has been a settlement in any class action you think you are involved in, before you cash the check. Find out the details of the settlement. If you cash the sent check that fulfills their obligation to you. You may have been entitled to a larger check.

My wife received a check from a local bank for an account she closed a year ago. The amount: $0.01 Now that was a surprise. We still have not decided which vacation to spend it on :-)

If you are sent a check as part of a class action settlement you have two choices - accept it and move on, reject it and sue the company on your own as an individual. Only a fool takes the second choice.

Were you automatically included in the class action as a subscriber, or did you have to register in some way?

I believe I registered on line but it was a few years ago so I couldn't be 100% certain.
I never purchased Sirius XM. A six month trial came with a new car I bought.

Thank you, Bruce. I assume you play the bass? A buddy of mine from when I lived in Florida is a bassist. He gigs with a band called AC/DC (at least he did; we'll see if they go on after Young's death).

Your link was very useful (and frustrating!). I'm not a member of the class, but if I understood the explanation correctly, you got a check if you simply received a phone call from them during a trial subscription.
