If you're one of the lucky ones who gets to experience a real winter with cold and snow, you should know how to protect you photo gear. There's nothing radical in this article, but it's good to have an occasional review of procedures.

Mine's weather and freeze resistant...an important factor for me when buying a camera. I also keep it in my camera bag when not in use, instead of around my neck...especially if snowing or raining...with the lens hoods on.

Thank you, Jerry. That is great information. We have all put a lot of money into our equipment and it would be a shame to have that equipment ruined by moisture.

I am accustom to doing this at home, it's when I go on vacation to warm places I tend to forget. :-(

Very good article, Jerry, Thanks for sharing. I'm sure many of uf don't give the cold much thought, including summer air conditioning.

I have a Pentax K-3ll which is sealed. If I use a sealed lens as well and do not remove it from the camera until everything has warmed up it seems to me that condensation should not be an issue. Does anyone see an error in this thinking? I have been using the zip lock process just because I haven’t been sure about the camera and lens sealing. I have had the camera and a WR lens literally sitting in a pool of water for over a half and hour once when I was in a kayak with no ill effects.
