I have 2 spotmatic ll's. The first I bought new im Ramstein Germany in 1971 when I first got into photography, the 2nd I bought on ebay a couple of years ago in almost new condition. Love them both.

The Spotmatic II is a well-designed camera, built to last. I use mine regularly.

I was right up the road at Kleber Kaserne, Kaiserslautern (aka K-Town). We bought most of our photo, electronics, watches at the Canadian PX in Zwiebruken - got additional benefit of exchange vs Canadian dollar.

Still miss my spotmatic. Wonder how many Hoggers started with one.

I started with a Spotmatic in Japan in 1968. I was in the Navy and used it for all my film pictures in the Far East. Used Ektachrome for slides and Fujifilm for negatives. My best memories were taken with that camera and an inexpensive Sun 85-210 lens. Still have it all and I will be using the 50mm 1.4 on my D3100 for come close-up work. That camera was my photographic first love.

Yeah, I bought my first SLR, an Asahi Spotmatic with three lenses, in Singapore in 1969. I paid US$125 for the body and f/1.4 lens. I bought a Pentax ME SE ten years later.

Have been for a long time. I have a K2S, K-3ll and some older models of film and digital formats. They are really good cameras. Just went a bit crazy and bought the 150-450 telephoto. Unfortunately, I rarely see others with a Pentax camera. Glad to see some other Pentaxtians on this forum.

Another Pentaxian here. I used my K-1000 for 30 years. I used it for weddings, travel, landscape photography and pretty much everything else. It never let me down and it still works. Over 30 years I probably only tossed a dozen photos. Then when I couldn't deny digital photography any longer I got a K20D. It has also taken many awesome photos and it still works as well as it did on day one. However I am anxious to upgrade now that I can get a digital camera that handles low light better. And even though I'm not crazy about the added weight I'll probably go full-frame. And once again it will probably be a Pentax. I could put my K-1000 photos up against any pictures and I always got raving reviews. Guess that hooked me. I mostly shoot landscape photos and I also love not worrying about a little moisture. So glad to hear I'm not the only Pentaxian left out there.

I don't use it anymore but back in 1967/68 stationed in Oakiana my roommate who took photos and sold them to magazines introduced me to an Asahi Pentex and that was my first camera. We could develop color slide film for about 35 cents a roll in the base hobby shop and it soon became a hobby to last a lifetime. I still have it in storage with a couple of lenses but it was totally manual and I went the way of technology. But I miss those days!

That was my start, too, in 1967. I still have two Pentax film bodies as well as a K10D and K-3. I've never seen a reason to abandon ship as all have been super reliable.
