Hey SS. I am giving it some very serious thought. I like the camera and the light weight, but it is just a little convoluted to set up. Not Ansel

Hey Sharpie, while I didn’t know the man personally, I would guess that AA would pick the Fuji MF camera system. But just guessing.

It depends on which company will give him free cameras to use. Hasselblad loaned him the 500c system for many years and when recently they were returned Hasselblad got a very good return on their investment. Hasselblad got $100,000 for the system.

I recently switched from a full sized DSLR (Canon 70D) to a mirrorless Olympus OM-D EM-10. Weight was the issue. I like the Oly. I don't like the fact that, so far, Oly is not intuitive as it relates to pre-programing. It seems that each switch from auto, to A,S,M,P or SCN requires a completely different matrix set up. I hate to admit it but I have actually set down with the manual to try and figure it out. Can anyone give me a hint? "You tube" is too generic and does not get into that level of detail. There must be a simple solution I am not seeing. Not Ansel

I’m most definitely not AA, not even a decent one, more like a snapshot shooter, but by using the SCP I can make the changes in a heartbeat and once changed, they stay the same. Unless I don’t understand your question, what exactly is so difficult? When you answer me, please remember that I’m also not Einstein.

That would be every company.

Neither of my cameras allow auto ISO in manual mode. Does yours? That is one issue some users complain about often.

I have a Canon 7D which allows auto ISO in manual mode. Very handy for BIF, set f/stop and shutter speed and bang away.

We are talking about Olympus cameras here. I know that other makes allow it.

Yes, my Olympus EM-10 has that feature...that's why I mentioned to the OP who has the same camera

I've been using this feature for about a year and most of the time it fits my needs just fine (my Panasonic Lumix G7 has, and my Canon T3i did also).

Regarding your focus point wandering. I had the same problem with my recently purchased Panasonic GM5 and isolated it to the touch-sensitive screen. I would inadvertently touch the screen and the auto-focus point would move. My alternatives were to live with the inconvenience or turn off the sensitivity. I don't know if there is a better solution.
Thanks; I checked and I think that was it! Not only that, I now know that the touch screen allows me to set the focus point more quickly than the arrow keys!

Glad to help. I'm undecided whether I want the advantages of touch screen vs the possibility of resetting my focus point. I often ended up with a focus point in a corner!

Go to biofos.com

They have spreadsheets for settings and a discussion of recommended settings. Not sure of EM10 specifically, but it will be similar to other Olympus bodies.

Maybe the OP should of tried strength training before buying a lighter camera?

I switched in 2015.. I now have the OMD EM10, OMD EM 10 mark ii, OMD EM1, and just added the EM5 mark ii. I shot NIKON for years. I still have my Nikon D600. I have found the Olympus OMD the smartest for achieving what I want and my EM 10 is still my general carry around camera. I have gotten some remarkable results. It does take a while to get through and understand the menu structure and settings. Now you do understand that in manual mode you don't automatically see the changes to your image as you do in the other modes (A,P,S). I do shoot mostly in Manual Mode (try it with setting auto ISO). Next I do a lot in Aperture priority mode (it gives me almost flawless results). You can check my results by viewing my flickr page noted here. I never use SCN however when you go to SCN mode you are putting the camera in charge of all shooting parameters and yes it's gonna present a different set of settings cause your told it too. Else the other modes does follow the same rules as Nikon, Cannon and any other DSLR. Changing modes is a different matrix.... I am not sure what you are referring to when you say difference in Matrix. We maybe have a different definition of what that means (so lets not dwell on it). Try ISO AUTO all modes then shoot the same shot in each mode and compare your results. If you decide to chk my flkr page and want some one on one for more information I will be glad to help you. Use PM to contact me. GOOD LUCK.

If you can’t see the changes in M mode, you have to push a few buttons.
