Do any of you make coffee using the French press method? I watch a lot of English TV, and they seem to be popular there. I saw this Star Wars coffee maker, and I thought I'd get it as a Christmas gift for a Star Wars fan. I'm just uncertain about the French press feature.

I've used mine for years. I like the taste and the fact that I'm not putting anything in the trash.

I love mine. Like previously mentioned, you have to use coarse ground beans and, it take a little while to prepare but, it will produce the best cup o'joe around.

I don't put my grounds in the trash, either, but I'm getting concerned about the 55-gallon drums sitting in the living room - filled with coffee grounds.

It costs me $5.00 a bag to bring garbage to the "dump" (recycling center), so I recycle as much as I can.

Thanks for the input. Using coarse grounds would require grinding the beans, so that's a negative. I'd have to buy him a grinder, too. : )

I tried a french press for a short period. I found two shortcomings. I had to use more coffee and the coffee didn't stay hot.

You can mix "some" of the coffee grounds into soils for azalea & hydrangea.

They like acidic soil.

Great! Now I'll have to go out and buy dozens of plants!

Used one for a few years and have a son-in-law who only uses a press and only with spring water. Then, he adds cream and sugar so it’s basically a waste of time. I use a Kuerig for my daily cup of unadulterated coffee.

I've used one for years. I have no why it's suggested that you use coarse ground. I use fine ground - just as it comes from the store and the coffee is good.

My Son has a coffee shop that only serves French press and espresso. He even roasts his beans through the day (nice smell) and grinds the beans for each cup. His thought was you always get a totally fresh cup of coffee no matter what time of day it is.

Somebody gave the wife one a couple years ago, still in the cabinet, to my knowledge never used. Will stick to my regular pot and the Kuerig.

I don't drink anything but cappuccino made in an Olympia Cremina (but I didn't pay that ridiculous price for it).
