Nikon d750 question.
Oh Oh. Another reading challenged poster.
So why shoot one shot in continuous mode? IMHO seems dumb since the camera has a single shot mode.
What does it mean to roll a finger on the shutter?

I have a very difficult time shooting only one shot in continuous shoot mode. I have had a couple pros in my photo club try it and they too have trouble. I have tried rolling my finger on the shutter and have no luck. The shutter seems super sensitive. My model is under recall. I cannot shoot single shots occasionally but it is difficult. I am now shooting in single shoot mode. Have any other d750 users encountered this problem?
Sounds like user error, not the camera.

Just what it says. Instead of just pushing down on the shutter button, gently rolling your finger across the button is less likely to induce camera shake. It also guarantees multiple shots in continuous mode.
Is this a serious question or is somebody having a laugh?
I shot single frames in continuous-high all the time on my D7200.
Like back button focus lets me do single or servo, it lets me do singles when I want and hold it down for a few frames without needing to change any camera settings. Even with stills, I like a 2-3 burst as the second one often seems sharper when handhold.
So, sounds like you have a sensitive button. I've used a friends D750 and could do the singe with a short press or continuous with a long press.

I occasionally get two shots in single shot mode. My first D750 I returned because it would trigger twice frequently. I think that it is possible that Nikon shutter sensitivity suffers from a process control problem. Some are much more sensitive than others.
But continuous shooting is supposed to be multiple captures. That is the point. My suggestion is switch to single shot mode when you want single shots.

I don't know what you mean by frequently but I my D750 would also rip off a couple shots in single shot mode every now and then. Maybe once every 300 or 400 shots or so. That is probably a signal that something isn't quite right but not worth the trouble to send it in or be without my camera. Otherwise it works perfectly. No big deal just delete the additional image.
In response to the OP I wouldn't worry about your camera taking an extra shot in continuous mode. Like everyone else has already mentioned, switch to single shot mode.

Thats because its NOT SUPPOSED to shoot single shots in "continuous" mode. Thats why you have "single" mode as a selection.
Thats also why your camera came with a manual to explain these things to you.
I think "NOT SUPPOSED TO" is a bit misleading, more like "Intended Use or Designed for multiple images" single shots can absolutely be achieved while set at CL or CH. Just don't hold it down....

To define what I meant by frequently, for the camera I returned, it happened about 4-5 times on the first walk-about shoot with it, maybe 50 shots total. My current camera does it “now and then”. Not sure of the statistics but maybe every hundred or couple hundred shots. Not a bit deal except when shooting in a studio, the flash will not have time to recharge and thus the 2nd short is underexposed and all the flash units beep loudly in protest.

that is why they have the two modes. Continuous means many clicks with one shutter release. Use the other.
