I'm looking for suggestions on this photo. As you can see, it was taken looking into the sun near sunset, while using the "weeds" to block the direct sun. I liked the texture of these weeds due to their fine, hair-like structure and the way the sun made them glisten. Is there anything else I could do from an editing standpoint or for another shoot to improve this? Thanks.

This is a nice picture. The only thing I could offer is that if you
applied a vignetting you might want to pull back on it a touch.

IMO it's gorgeous! Love the perspective, the light and that the thin lines of clouds mimic the strands of grasses.

Overall I like this shot. But I too would suggest to pull back on the vignette some.

Hi, JacqW,
Good to see another South Dakotan here! We are scarse hereabouts in UHH land!

I like your image very much as posted. Whenever vignetting is used there is always discussion as to how much is appropriate in each case...as there should be to get all views and reasons expressed.

I like it as posted because, to my eye, more vignetting would be overdone, simply too much of a good thing... and less would diminishish the excellent impact this image projects to the viewer.

IMO this image, in a gallery, would stop even the most casual gallery stroller in his or her tracks,

it is a strong, arresting image...a real “grabber” !

If you are in or get to East River, you ought consider entering this matted to 16x20 in the Open Photography Show (judged) of the Brooking Area Arts Council. (entries due in Dec of 2017)

Thank you everyone for your comments. I too struggled with the vignetting. I had it in, then took it out, then made numerous adjustments, etc. So, what you see was basically a flip of a coin for the final decision. And thanks Dave for the heads up on the photography show! I actually live in Sioux Falls, so Brookings is a short drive.

When the light and composition are correct, even weeds are beautiful. Thanks for posting.
