Wow. My hat is off to your dad and all the others like him who helped stop the tyranny of the Nazis and free Europe.

Thanks go to your father and all who served this great nation. I too have had family serve, grand-fathers, Father, numerous uncles & cousins. Each and everyone that served deserves respect for the sacrifice's they have made. Praise God they all came back to us.

It used to be a tradition to serve - my mother had 8 brothers (BIG family) serving in WW2 at the same time (and all came home).

This is my Dad Lt. Robert Anderson (forward observer) who served in the 82nd, 463rd parachute artillery, 101st in Bastogne as part of the Battered Bastards of Bastogne, and was wounded twice. He still carries shrapnel. He was headed to Japan in the 4rth when Japan surrendered. He told me he knew "in his gut" he would not survive in Japan and cried when the airplane turned around and went back to Europe. He is highly decorated and has been a magnificent father.

I salute you Lt. Anderson. To you and to all that served "Thank You".

My military experience was a rather unexciting stint in the US Army Chemical Corps but I had an uncle, Peter Santini, who served in the 101st in WWII and was dropped behind the lines on D-Day. I wonder if your dad knew him?

a salute to your dad. every time I go to the VA the one thing I enjoy is talking with the WWII vets. the Marines who fought on the Islands made Viet Nam seem like kids play.
