Last month, we were fortunate to tour the most sacred Tibetan Buddhist site, the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, Tibet. It was a cool, sunny day, friendly to photography.
We witnessed devout pilgrims prostrating themselves in Barkhor Square in front of the Jokhang and walking on the streets completely around the Jokhang.
The photo ops were superb. Here is a collection of ladies wearing colorful clothing including the Bangdian stripes.
Great photos. Did you get their permission to post their images online? (kidding)

Maybe I can use that as an excuse to go back.
To be honest, touring at 12,000' is challenging. I would not do it again...but I'm certainly glad that I did it once. Thanks.
Beautiful photos. This is an excellent series of a place most of us will never see.
Wonderful shots of the people of Lhasa.Very enjoyable!!!!!

Thank you, Tikva. Other UHHers show me places I'll probably never visit.

I always appreciate your comments, sirius.
Glad you like them, Steve.
Very nice. But it looks like if a few of those ladies prostrated themselves they might not be able to get up.

Thanks, Jack. You would be amazed at how many times some rather old people prostrated themselves...repeatedly. I use the word "devout" carefully and specifically.
