All honorably discharged veterans stand tall in my book. My Dad was a WWII and Korean veteran with honors and retired from the the Air Force. I entered the service in 1969.
I thank you and your dad for your service. We owe all our servicemen and women a great debt.
I remember when I came back from Iraq in 2003, we were met in Bangor Maine by many people. Many were WWII vets. As they thanked me for my service, I thanked them back and reminded them they saved the world.
Which allowed me to follow in their footsteps. I am so great full they sacrificed so much for us and gave me the opportunity to carry on their legacy.
Thank you to all Vets.
Ditto.Thanks for viewing.
I don't understand the title. Please explain.
Did they offer you an artificial knee operation but you turned it down?
Yes. You didn't. You would have been court martialed. And you were supported by the 761st Tank Brigade - African Americans in Shermans - who didn't take a knee either.
Thank you for your service. You - and they - have earned the right to take a knee any time y'all want. It's OK if you don't want.
Robert, as a Canadian, you must be unaware of the NFL players "taking a knee" -(kneeling) during the performing of the National Anthem.
They are trying to protest the Police Departments across the country.
Many, many US citizens take serious offense to kneeling during the anthem.
The OP here is saying the veteran pictured, never took a knee, nor did scores of other vets beside him, before and after.
It's all a little tongue in cheek, if you will. Hope this gets you up to speed...
Danersmiff- thanks very much for the explanation!
They all deserve our respect and thanks.
Excellent tribute Bnewmk.
I salute you to, fellow Vet!
