What is a "facial stabilizer"?
Monopods can be very stable when wedged, braced or propped against a solid surface. Use a cable or remote shutter release and the results will be great.
Certainly better than handheld, but properly used is important. Make it a semi-tripod by placing the monopod away from you to the front and your 2 legs spread wide. Lean a little forward and you now have a semi-tripod. This should give you about 3 shutter speeds gain.
Suffice it to say, there is a lot of physics and geometry involved to maximizing the use of a monopod ! - and WILL require a good articulating head.
Tried to use this at 300 mm on my cropped sensor Nikon. Two problems occurred 1) finding the object through the lens was difficult had to start wide and zoom in and 2) even with the three legged attachment on the monopod, it was very difficult to stabilize the csamera. The cure was still to find a tree, Building or something to brace against!
