Happy Birthday To The US Marine Corps.
The US Marine Corps will celebrate its 242nd Birthday on November 10, 2017. I saw once on TV, the ceremonial cake cutting. The US Marine Corp, for the first time in US history, have the two highest positions in the US Military Hierarchy. They are Retired General James N. Mattis, who is currently the Secretary Of Defense, and General Joseph Dunford, USMC, Chairman Of The Joint Chiefs Of Staff. For all uhh members who served in the USMC, Happy Birthday. You may post when you served. If you wish to. Thanks for serving our country.
God bless the Devil Dogs!
Thank you! For all my Sister and Brother Marines, Happy Birthday!
Semper Fidelis,
Frank
Semper Fi to all fellow Marines and Happy Birthday USMC 🎊🎂🎉🎁🎈
"Another day in the United States Marine Corps where every day is a holiday and every meal is a banquet". I recall saying this every night in my squad bay at Parris Island, SC during boot camp in 1964 with my twin brother nearby. Never, before or since, have I felt the immense pride I still feel having served in the USMC. In my opinion and that of many others there is no better fighting force on the planet.
Happy 242nd Birthday brothers and sisters and Semper Fi,
Dennis

Happy Birthday to all Marines. My hitch was Sept '66 - Jan '76 and at MCRD San Diego every meal was a "feast". I finished up my military career (mostly in Army Special Forces) in 2009.

My cousin joined the U.S. Army around 1964. He served in Vietnam. Retired in 20 years with his last assignment at Fort Bliss, Texas. He and his wife made El Paso, TX their new permanent home, and not wanting to return to his home State, which surprised his entire family. They wanted him close to home. Oh well. Thanks for your Service too.

I am happy to hear about your cousin's Army experience on a USMC post. I hope he is doing well. Please thank him for his service. It is much appreciated. If he was at any time with the 1st Air Cav unit he may have been at Marble Mountain when I was.

There are two known USMC Facilities in Southern California. MCRD for Recruit Training, and Camp Pendleton. Camp Pendleton, a permanent Facility, is huge in land mass. Camp Pendleton had the most deployed Marines than any other US Marine Corps Facilities. Some were deployed up to three times to various Middle Eastern danger zones. They pulled more than their weight. But never complained. They just went. Thank you for your Service.
Secretary Of Defense, James N. Mattis had the highest Senate Confirmation Votes of any past SOD Confirmations. The Votes were 98-1 in favor. There were 99 eligible Votes. Senator Sessions of Alabama did not vote, because he was assigned to Attorney General.
To the organization that taught this then 17 year old kid how to shave ------
