Going Incognito ... do you suppose there'd be much market for a name-brand-less camera?

Bags w/ steel net lining, huh, Cam? .... How does THAT help?
When in Brooklyn, my wife always carried her purse against her body, rather than hanging from a strap. It turns out that in larger cities, thieves often carry knives with them. They're said to be reluctant to stab actual persons, but more than willing to cut straps, bags, etc to get to value.

A recent post made reference to the fact some people not only change straps to something anonymous right after they get a new camera, but, even go so far as to black out the brand name on the prism (or other locale) - to avoid having it ripped off. Does this make sense to you? ... Would you do it, if this was a concern to you?

Yes. I have. There is no point in drawing attention to your gear when the quality of your images depends on your blending into the woodwork! In some situations, I try to be invisible. That includes using totally silent electronic shutter mode.

Yeah, I do that, too, Bill ...

When I go to an event which requires absolute quiet, I take my a77 ....

Seems to do the trick ...

Still fighting the Vietnam war? :D

No, I fought it 54 years ago. But in recent videos I have seen on Youtube, it was amazing how many signs said Saigon this or Saigon that. No Ho Chi Minh City anything.

Well a lot has changed in 54 years. We are trade partners now, and they are one of the most pro-U.S. countries in Asia. Also, the Japanese and Germans aren't enemies anymore either....

Since Saturn seems to've been spoken for in the past with a couple of camera brands, the new name for this dig cam has now been changed. Henceforth, it'll be known as a Homin. Again, it will be offered in two levels. The Full Frame version will be called Top Ho. The APS-C version will be called Dun Ho. The price differential between the two ranges - will be just $25.

Cathy, After owning 3 Nikons, I switched to the mirrorless SONY a6000. It’s positively the best camera I’ve ever had the good fortune to own. Has everything and more than most DSLR’s . You can take the very finest photographs you want with it. And the kit lens it comes with are fine. You’d be surprised to learn how many professionals have switched to the very expensive SONY’s. The a6000 costs just about $7 or 8 hundred.

yup, including the 2+ million vietnamese. the sad fact of the matter, was we put ourselves in the middle of a civil war. the british, in our civil war, were smart enough not to do that, even though they preferred the condfederacy.

Scrap the HoMin name for this new brand-less camera .... instead, it will be called Civillia ... the FF level will be named FreeForm ... and the crop sensors will be referred to as Abbys ... the price differential will be 20 Confederate Dollars ....

I agree with "rook2c4" . . . the thief will take whatever they perceive as having value and assess its marketability later. The assumption we're making is that thieves are stupid and easily fooled. The size of your camera and/or lens is a dead give-away to its value. A key to reducing the risk of theft is to always be aware of your surroundings, strap your camera diagonally across your shoulder and not to be to ostentatious - try not to standout. Covering your camera with stickers or anything else only attracts attention to it. If a thief targets whatever you have, they're going to take - stickers and all.

In other words, Banjo ... if you're carrying around a MF DSLR, or even a FF DSLR, you're more likely to get ripped off, than if you're carrying around an APS-C (crop-sensor) dig cam, or an MFT, or a bridge ... is that it?

Did I pluck your strings, right?
