A Disturbing Book that needs to be banned.

No banning of books.
"How to Make Improvised Explosives at Home." Not a title I would like to see on any site.

On the other hand, monuments are offensive and it's okay to ban them. A plaque commemorating George Washington is offensive so it must be removed.
I am not saying books won’t be banned. I am saying it shouldn’t be banned just like the moniments.

Maybe the issue is not banning the book, but not having Amazon sell it. There are sites that specialize in "adult" material.
Privately sold books and government funded and maintained monuments are very different issues. I have no problem with individuals expressing free speech through books or monuments, however the Government should not be funding offensive expressions in either form.
The thing about rights such as freedom of speech and freedom of expression is you have to give others the freedom to be scumbags, idiots and a** holes. When you start to pick and choose, it isn't freedom or rights anymore. It is the powers that be giving you things. Which means they can take them away also.
Protest, refuse to have anything to do with it all you want, but don't start shouting "BAN" because next week it may be someone who doesn't like what you are doing/saying and they may seek to ban you or your ideas.

Banning books is dangerous since it violates the right to freedom of speech. You may disagree and maybe its in bad taste but its not unlawful. Don't buy it, don't read and don't censure what others say or read. And it doesn't belong here, post it in the Attic.

Some would say the real role of government is to preserve the ability of people to be a**holes while minimizing the harm they can inflict on others while doing so.
Ok, so maybe I am the only one who says that.

I was speaking to the OP's call to ban the book, but I also oppose limiting a private company's right to sell what it wants to sell, providing it is legal.
Nobody has the right to force an individual to purchase something that offends them and no individual has the right to prohibit someone from purchasing an item because thy find it offensive, as long as it is legal.

Somewhere around here I have a few army manuals on that, two books on homemade firearms and other weapons and one on improvised booby traps that involve no explosives. They haven't hurt a single person or thing, I haven't either. But are there people I think shouldn't be trusted with those books, yes. There are also people I wouldn't trust with a water pistol or cook book and a whole lot I think should not be allowed to own or use an automobile.

Nope, that is pretty much what I taught the last time I taught 12th grade government many years ago.
Sort of like the ACLU "should" be defending the far out extremists on all sides, not just the liberal progressive and PC causes. And occasionally they have done so. But every time they did it the liberals/progressives cut off memberships, donations etc and the ACLU backed off to preserve themselves and stay in business. (Mainly to keep their jobs with the organization - who wants to have to go get a real job?)
Am I the only one who remembers the stupid ads in “Men’s Magazines” with some version of a title on “How to Seduce Women by........” which of course every reader over the age of 10 knew was a load of horse crap. The kids under 10 of course were reading Daddy’s Playboy or Hustler.
If some idiot wants to waste their money, who am I to stop them? They’re probably the same sh*theads that ordered the “blackhead” removal tool. Banning books? Seriously?????

Totally agree,no banning, freedom of speech, each has its own values...use them accordingly
After clicking on the OP's provided link, I had a quick look around and subsequently discovered that this Goldmund individual has a couple of other "books" out, both of them dedicated to what he seems to think is his main purpose in life: getting laid. The one is called "The art of the one night stand", and the other "Go forth: A journey south", apparently a book-length listing of all his conquests south of the border. Amazon offers a look inside at a few paragraphs of each book. This is from the introduction to the camera book: "The camera is a simple tool (all you really have to do is press a button), and anyone can do it.....I will provide a detailed script you can follow. One that has gotten me laid many times over....."
Anybody that would drop 10 hard-earned dollars hoping to learn something from this bozo frankly deserves to lose their money. And I'm with the majority on this thread: Don't ban it--just don't buy it.
