I never really liked the terminology "Old People" but this makes me feel better about it.
And if you ain't one, I bet ya you know one! I got this from an "Old Personal friend of mine"!

"OLD PEOPLE" PRIDE

I'm passing this on as I did not want to be the only "old people" receiving it. Actually,
it's not a bad thing to be called, as you will see.

Old People are easy to spot at sporting events; during the playing of the National Anthem.
Old People remove their caps, cover their hearts, stand at attention and sing without
embarrassment. They know the words and believe in Them.

Old People remember World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal , Normandy , and Hitler..
They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon
Landing. They remember the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005, not to
mention Vietnam.

If you bump into an Old People on the sidewalk he will apologise. If you pass an Old People
on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old People trust strangers and are courtly to
women and treat them with great respect.

Old People hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady
is on the inside for protection.

Old People get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't
like any filth or dirty language on TV or in movies.

Old People have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag unless it's about their
children, grandchildren or their animals.

It's the Old People who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young
men and women in the military serving their country.

This country needs Old People with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country
and decent values. We need them now more than ever.

Thank God for Old Peopleā€¦.

Pass this on to all of the "Old People" you know.
I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.

Cheers and Beers to Fellow Old People

Very nice. I'm on the edge of 'Old People' as I was born during the beginning of World War II, so I don't remember it. I remember the rest of it, though. So I do consider myself part of the 'Old People'.

My grandfather told me that he once saw an air balloon, he was so scared by it, he ran home (born 1900). he lived to see the space race start!
The list of what 'Old People' remember is quite extensive and includes some world shaking events. I can remember back as far as Martin Luther King and Vietnam war. Kennedy and the space race. The start of computers. (born 1955)
You have to feel sorry for the young people...There has been no real conflict to inspire National Pride beyond those serving and their families. Space seems to be a race to throw things out there - in the hope they work. But with little to show for it. There has been no 'great' leaders actually making a 'difference'. We have been so heavy handed to make everyone 'equal' that role models are 'downright odd'. We confuse gender and sex.
Work is a 'three year career' and education is not nearly as important as 'becoming famous - for a day'.
It is Great to be old - you have self respect and self reliance. You know who and what you are...for better or worse...you had role models and opportunities....
Hard to imagine what young people consider as having been 'worth living through'.

nice post

Thanks, I enjoyed reading that. I was 14 when you were born, I remember doing my newspaper round at 14 and wondering who
B & K was, they were always in the headlines of my newspapers. Of course it was Bulganin and Khruschev. I left school at 15 and did a six years apprenticeship as a printers compositor, it was lead type in those days, not sat at a computer. The best years were them days. I remember rushing to the air raid shelter with my brother and sister, mum and grandma, my sister was in a push-chair,
I think you call them buggies, is it, she was ony a little tot. I do share your sentiments. The times have changed so much, I will stop there.

Thanks again
Cheers and Beers

I was raised in a time with no cell phones, no video games and not even cable or sat. tv. we had like four channels to pick from. I served and was wounded in Viet Nam. lots of political trouble in the U.S. but I still think it was a better time than now.

As a kid, we had one channel tv. Remember when mothers did not work or drive a car. Radios were use for listing to baseball on hot summer days and night and college football in the Fall. Never forget Nov. 23,1963. Still want to known how that happen. Viet Nam, what that? So much to remember, it sad to think sometime about people one has known. FDR was in the White House the day I was born, today to see what we got, We have go down hill very far.
