Just this past week Tamron held a free workshop here in Miami. We had Armando Flores as an instructor and Armando is a well known professional that worked several years for Nikon. He spoke to us on basics and how to photograph landscapes specially with wide angles. His photographs are very inspiring!
Tamron showed several of their latest lenses including yours. The 24-70 and the 70-200 looked well made and the pictures Armando showed from them were simply awesome. We all know the excellent 150-600 so no comments are necessary. I use strictly Nikon lenses with my cameras but I have nothing against using independent lenses. I saw good quality in the Tamron line.
Now talking about your photographs, I see nothing wrong with them. Your lens has a wide and useful span of focal lengths and it should prove to be an excellent choice for a walk around lens. All images I see here have very good contrast and clarity.
I am sure you are going to be very happy with your purchase.

From your "smilie" it looks like you're considering buying an 18-400 for yourself!

LOL, we don't share well! If I could get an FX version, I would be tempted for use on my lazy days.

Distant shots with low light.
Any remarks are perfectly appropriate.
It looks like a winner to me. You said you did no PP on these so I took the last one of the bull into PSE14 for a quick PP and I will diffidently buy this lens. With just a touch of PP it looked very good.....Rich

Whenever I post, please feel free to offer remarks and anything that adds! BTW, I intentionally posted an unaltered jpeg to show what the lens and camera did.

Were these hand held or was a tripod used? Reason is that none of these shots is really sharp. It these focal lengths you need rock steady hands (which I no longer have) or some kind of support. So assuming the focus was spot on the shutter speed was not high enough. I think you may have a camera shake problem at the long end.

Absolutely correct! My wife refuses to use a tripod or manual mode, so there is quite a combo to contribute to your observations. I noted that in my post and added that there was no PP. Trying to show some shots using the 18-140 under walk around conditions.
Thank you for commenting and I do appreciate it!
BTW, hope to hit Audubon in Pomfret within the next week!
Nice pics. I have been thinking about getting this lens. I think you pushed me over the edge.

I read that any photo taken with a digital camera needs PP because of the capabilities of a censer. I was also told this by some pros. The first photo is the original as posted and the second one is with slight PP in PSE 14. To me this shows that this lens is pretty darn good and a perfect all around lens .....Rich
Nice move posting both photos together, Rich! My plans are to spend time learning some methods this winter. I have LR and will get to work. Thank you again for your efforts! Dave.
Great images! That is really a diverse lens. Great images from a bee to an elk! I have been to Yellowstone NP and understand the environment. The lens performed beautifully. Truly a consideration for a new walk-around lens. I realize it is for an APS-C camera and on my D800e it would be a 27 to 600mm equivalent. Tempting as a replacement for my 28-300 Nikkor. I'll be checking reviews.
