Welcome to the forum. You don't have to post a lot of photos to participate. This place is first and foremost about communication, sharing of ideas and knowledge. A photo from time to time if fine but it's more about the words.
If you are still struggling with "mastering" the world of digital photography, photographer, author and educator Scott Kelby has a book series called The Digital Photography Book, and they are a really good set of books to help one learn digital photography. They are easy to read and understand, and hold, and cost around $20 each. I highly recommend them. I have the whole series and enjoyed reading them. I gave a complete set to my daughter for Christmas and now she has a side business photographing infants, pregnant women and family's (with a Canon 80D I bought for her and my Canon 6D and lenses).
This is not a competition site. We welcome all pictures and this is the place to teach and to learn. Welcome to the HOG. Please show us some work and we can have a discussion .
Welcome to the Hog Mary, enjoy.

My name is Mary, and I have been watching you talented Hedgehogs for a few months. I finally decided to introduce myself and say "hello." I received my first DSLR for my birthday 5 years ago, and although my brain often acts like a sieve instead of a sponge I have been trying to learn all I can about photography. Perhaps with practice I will take a photo worthy of posting here on UHH. Until then I will continue to observe the best from the shadows. I can't get enough of the pictures posted here; you people are amazing!

Welcome, and "do" post!! I do, and I just take the criticisms and compliments, as they come. Some people are nice, no matter what you post, some are crabby, no matter what you post, but for the most part, most are honest and really want to help. You can learn a lot, and you can teach others, no matter if you are not an "experienced" photographer. There is a lot to learn from everyone. Each has something unique to give. Different opinions lead to different perspectives, and it is nice to hear all sides of the argument, and then decide for yourself. That is what makes a forum like this, so great! Good luck with your photography.
hi and welcome to the forum. enjoy the process then the results. there are different groups here.some very technical, others soulful, yet other a combo.but mostly all very very helpful..jim
Welcome to UHH Mary, glad you joined us. Go ahead and post some of your work and ask for some feed back. Most folks will be kind and very helpful. That is the way we all can take better images.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.
