My photo experience is all film. From an early Voigtlander to a Canonflex to Nikon SLR's ending with F3hp. Spanning over 60 years. I want to go digital (Nikon) and am looking at D810, is this a good choice for me? I want FX not DX. Also my nephew is a Moscow, Russia based pro and is using a D750 as his primary camera. He is visiting me next week on his birthday. I wanted to surprise him with a D850, but that is impossible to obtain, so he will get a D810.
Thanks and enjoy everyone's posts here. Baikal
The d810 is a great choice if you mainly shoot stills, but I prefer the d750 for action. You may want to call B&H Photo to see how soon they would have the d850. If they happen to have one in stock, they will ship it next day.
B&H says up to 3 months! Nephew will arrive DFW 10/25 and return the following week.
Welcome to the HOG.
Enjoy.

Welcome to the UHH. The D810 is a great choice. Looking forward to some of your shots.
I did not buy the D810. I found a Nikon dealer with a D850 in stock. The D850 is gift wrapped and waiting for Lufthansa to deliver my nephew! I will post a link to his D750 photos when I get it. Thanks for all of your kind greetings.
