You're welcome! Mborn's response is exactly right; I should have been more clear in meaning the galactic center will not be visible. You will still get some excellent shots, just try to find a nice foreground subject to enhance them. You might even try your hand at light painting a foreground subject!

Hate to be a spoil shot but Light Painting is now forbidden in National Parks

Ahhhh, good point; I forgot about that! I'm usually not in the National Park when I night shoot out there; most of mine are shot in Big Bend Ranch State Park. I rarely light paint anyway, but some of my best shots have been from a setting moon illuminating the landscape!

These look like they were shot from same perspective. The 24 looks much closer than the 14. did you move in closer, or is there really that much difference in fov? Still waffling between the 14 2.8 and the 24 1.4. Just cant make up my mind.

I am actually going to a private cabin that is only a few miles from the park so not hampered by rules. There are miles and miles of dirt roads around there with no light pollution. I am going to explore in the daytime and pick favorite sites for night. Thank you so much for your input.
