focus metering on leica q - why is the autofocus sub-section on the menu "greyed out?"

I'm trying to set up a Leica Q for general use. I want the focus

I don’t own that camera, but is it possibly in manual focus mode, thus not allowing changes to autofocus functions?

Possibly. It’s a new camera so I may have made any number of inconsistent settings.
