These used to be seen frequently around here, but no more. The cottontails have taken over. Nice images!
Thanks, AzPicLady. The cottontails move in here, the Great Horned Owls follow, then no more cottontails. It is sad but still, I love to hear the owls hooting at dusk.

Those are excellent shots, Katy. Really nicely done. I've spent many hours at the Sac Refuge, and auto tour loop is phenomenal. You can often get quite close to birds and animals that would be difficult to photograph at other areas.
Lame-Duck, thanks! I agree, the refuge is great and not too far away from me. I especially love seeing eagles in winter there.

I see Karin beat me to the line.
I knew it was coming. There's always, "I'm all ears."

I saw a billboard out west once where one of these fellas was wearing a saddle. Didn't see the rider though.😎😎
No saddles, no riders, Dean.

Your pictures reminded me of a time when my wife and I were headed for my deer lease. She was born and raised in N. Ireland and since she had never seen a deer before except in pictures I had given her a number of talks on what to expect and also that a buck had horns and a doe didn’t. As we were driving down a dirt road to the lease a big jack rabbit jumped out in front of the truck and took off down the center of the road. My wife exclaimed, “look at that big rabbit and it’s a buck too. Look at those horns.” I almost drove into the ditch I was laughing so hard.

Thanks for some incredible pictures that brought back my youth in west Texas. Sadly, they are one of the things that I miss in the city. As a young boy it was interesting to watch the life cycle from year to year and the relationship between the prevalence of the rabbits, deer, and quail on the lower end of the food chain and the coyotes, bobcats and winged predators at the other end.
Thanks again for the great shots with detail that isn't often seen close enough to be appreciated.

Great shots, Katydid, except the last two where you cut off his ears. I know you needed to do that to get a close up of his face, but it just doesn't look "right" to me without his ears!
Really fantastic Downloads, Katy!
More cute bunny photos. Their ears do seem to be out of proportion to the rest of their body.
