Does anyone have any experience with the Sirui P-426S or P426SR? I got good response on my genera question about Sirui equipment. I contemplating getting this from B&H with the VH-10X head on it. I am going to use it for photo work initially, but I want to be able to use it for video down the line.

Have one along with an L10 tilt head. Great combination and very solid monopod. Very stable with legs down.

I own an older Sirui P-426S monopod with aluminum legs and am very happy with it, but in limited usage. The three legs make it a steady platform to work from, but only if you keep your hand on it to steady it. The legs are not all that wide and with a camera on top, the center of gravity rides pretty high, meaning if will tip over rather quickly if bumped. I use the Sirui G10X G Series Ball Head, which locks in quite nicely ...... but then, I've never overloaded it with a big, heavy lens either.

An interesting fact ....... at our local art museum, one cannot use a full-blown tripod, but monopods are OK. This is almost a hybrid between the two forms, but they let me use it. So, for indoor, stationary shots, it's wonderful. As I say, just keep your hand on it.

Mine is the P-326 Carbon 8X. It's exactly what it was supposed to be and very good in my not very experienced opinion. I would buy it again.

I don’t have any experience with this particular monopod but.....I have a heavy duty Sirui tripod, a monopod, a ball head and a monopod head. They are all excellent.

Thanks, that is the combination I am considering buying. Since it is a Jewish Holiday until Sat. evening, I have to wait until then to order from B&H. I'm having a GAS attack. It may clear up by then, but I doubt it.

Thanks for the extra information. When I'm out taking photos, I keep my shoulder strap in place so that the camera doesn't get accidentally dropped. I try to be careful with my camera. I've never dropped one yet, but there is always a first time.
