I have a bunch of baseball autographs, signed with a Sharpie on 8x10 photos (printed by Adorama on glossy paper). I archive these in a folio by mounting them on black paper and inserting the mounted photo in a transparent sheet protector the is 3-hole punched for a standard looseleaf binder.
I have been buying my archival supplies from Light Impressions Direct. The following description of the materials is from their website:
heavyweight acid-free and lignin-free paper (black in 12pt.)
Top-loading polypropylene pages are designed for fast, easy insertion and retrieval of documents. Perfect for most clippings and photos, these high-quality archival pages prevent photocopy and ink transfers.
My issue is that Light Impressions Direct has been incredibly erratic in filling orders. They keep changing vendors. I have no idea if my current order will ever be filled.
2 questions:
For the sheet protectors, is the Avery product sold by Staples just as safe and effective? Their packaging includes the magic words, "Acid free. Archival safe. Won't lift print."
I can't seem to find a substitute product vendor for 8.5" x 11" jet black, modestly heavy stock paper on which to mount the photos. Any ideas?
Thank you for any suggestions.

Going by those words, it would seem to be okay.

Sharpies are far from permanent in my experience...
