In November 1980 my mother's first grandchild was born; in April 1987 our first daughter was born. Sometime between those two dates she purchased an SLR camera; the camera store included a bag large enough to hold that camera plus the additional items she purchased over the next couple of years plus consumables {such as film and batteries}. My brother had a similar bag with almost identical contents {he may even have advised her - I don't know}. I had a similar bag and contents, except mine were Pentax. I had several friends who had similar bags and contents. She packed her kit away when she got a digital camera, and when she recently moved to assisted living, I ended up possessing it, at least for now.
Each time I have purchased a new camera, I have purchased a similar bag for it {except the Canon EOS Elan which was also packed with a bag when I got it}. This is the sort of thing I picture when I hear the words "kit bag".

I need to pare my pack down to what's in THAT bag!! LoL SS
So fed up of giving one thing up, in order to get something else ...
Why can't a camera have BOTH a GPS, AND a touchscreen?
Pentax did something similar with their K-3 upgrade ... the K-3II has a GPS, but they left off the flash!!!! ... Silly move!!!
I agree! But Nikon does not for some reason. To my understanding the D5300 is the only one ever produced with built in GPS. I use this feature in every shot because I want to have the ability to see on a map where a picture is shot. I find it especially valuable for vacation shots. That and price was one reason for choosing the D5300 over other models.
You can add an external GPS on your D5600 in the hot shoe.
thanks ChrisT, but I wouldn't want a grip without a battery compartment. I know how expensive Nikon's grips are. I had one on my D300. the problem with my cheap grip is the camera always reads the batteries as nearly dead. I tried setting the camera to the cameras battery first and then the grips. no difference. everything else works. I'll use it til it dies or I can find a good deal on a used one.
If you are having a problem with your grip you may want to get a zeikos grip I was told they make Nikons grip they are identical they do not drain your batterys I had mine for over 9 years on my d300s. If you can't find one try campus camera in kent ohio .

Thanks, Boris ... just the D5600? ... or, would it work on the D5500, too?

Zeikos, huh, Carl? ... now, I have something of theirs ... oh, I know - it's a bag for my FFP S200EXR ... unique design ... it allows for the camera to be placed in it, in a horizontal position. Rather unique set-up - but it works, just great. Okay, I'll take a look at their grips. Thanks for the tip, Carl ....
