Tom Petty passed away at age 66. He was found by his wife in cardiac arrest and rushed to an LA hospital where he died according to his manager Tony Dimitriades. He made lots of good music over the years. Below are a few of my favorites.

And besides his work with the Heartbreakers, he also released 3 solo albums, and was also in The Traveling Wilburys along with Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Bob Dylan. Quite a musical career I would say. He also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and won other awards during his musical career as well.

Such sad news, but what an amazing life! Really he got to do pretty much everything he ever dreamed of doing.
Not many of us can say that.

I was very fortunate to see him twice, I was able to get great seats (2nd and 3rd row) and he was just phenomenal live.
And you might forget how many big hits he had... Until you heard him play for two hours straight and you realized they were ALL hits!
RIP Mr. Petty, your musical legacy will live forever.

was extremely fortunate I was able to shoot Tom Petty's Sept. 1 show at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center for the Sacramento Press. I've seen and reviewed him around 10 times through the years (since 1980) but this experience was by far the most memorable, especially since he died unexpectedly a month later. He was definitely one of my favorites and was as good as ever until the end.

All of the above, great. I'll have to check out his star on Hollywood Walk of Stars next time I travel to that area. Roy Orbison, who can forget him. Even the late Elvis Presley had the utmost respect for him. "Pretty Woman, Walking Down The Street."

The best and most consistent songwriter of the last 30 years. He's always been a favorite of mine, but I regret that I never got to see him in concert. Great bandleader, lots of integrity. I will surely miss him presence on the musical landscape.
