Bought a new D750 and trying to figure out how to use the WiFi with my iPhone as a remote. Has anyone been able to set theirs up? I've had no luck.
Thanks,
Joe
A friend of mine who shoots both Nikon and Canon recently bought another Nikon. A D7200 or 7500 (I can't keep them straight. I'm a Canon guy). Anyway, he loves the camera but says that it just will not work with his I-Phone. According to him, Nikon's wi-fi on all of his Nikons is nearly useless.
I know that isn't much help, other then to indicate that it is probably not you causing the problem.
I have no problem connecting my Nikon D5300 to my iphone. The D750 may be different, but for mine, the steps are:
1. Turn on wifi in the D5300 menu
2. Set the D5300 wifi as the wifi provider in the iphone's setup. The SSID has D5300 somewhere in its name.
3. Start the WMU app on the iphone.
4. In the WMU app, "connect to camera" (or similar wording).
The WMU app now controls the camera, or may transfer photos off it. The control options are very, very limited.

Check for firmware updates, there was an update that addresses Apple products issues.

I have Nikon D750 and never used Wi-Fi with it before reading your post. Decided to try it and now I know how to use it. You need to install Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility. You can reed this article
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/learn-and-explore/a/tips-and-techniques/using-your-nikon-cameras-built-in-wi-fi.html and find there link how to find it and install for free. After that you should connect your phone and you camera to Wi-Fi. On your phone screen you will have window Nikon WMU. Click on this window and you have choice Take photos /with your camera/ or View photos. Good luck.

The Nikon app is terrible. I recommend qDslrDashboard.

Well, you're "a Canon guy."
I've never tried using Wi-Fi on a Nikon, but I'll be interested in seeing what answers this gets.

I use iphone wi-fi apps with Nikon, Olympus, and Panasonic. In my opinion, the Panasonic wi-fi app is the best. The Olympus app works, although it tends to disconnect, but it also locks the user out of the controls on the body when connected. The Nikon provided app is horrible, and I use qDslrDashboard instead.
I use the iphone apps frequently because I shoot events and get the camera up high or down low with a monopod, or occasionally have it mounted in an awkward or dangerous position. I judge the apps based on ease of use, reliability of connection, and whether I can quickly switch in/out of remote use.
One other suggestion for Nikon is Cam Ranger. But that's expensive unless you have a need. For me, I could use it to control both the camera and the pan-tilt head...currently I use a wired connection for the head. As I said, it's expensive.

I only used Canon's wi-fi ap one time. I think it was on my 6D. Connected through my home wireless network to my computer. Set up the camera out in the yard and was able to control it with no problem. As I recall I could control most all of the functions. Since my phone is mentally challenged I have never tried connecting to a smart phone. Anyway, my experience with wi-fi is limited.

I tried it yesterday and told about this (how I did it) in this topic (with typo reed instead of read).
Thanks to MT Shooter.... updating the firmware was all I needed to do. I am only using the WMU App to act as a remote.
Might look into qDslrDashboard for more options, per jcboy3's post.
