Do you use a battery grip?

I have one body with it on and one without a grip/batt pack/wrist strap. Weight is an issue but having 2 batts is nice peace of mind. VELLO - they are great and MUCH cheaper than Canon version - and fine quality. I love not having a long strap flopping about and the little fist strap lets you "dangle" the entire camera/lens/grip with authority and complete control when strolling about. I do a lot of "street genre" photog and it is great in a crowd. I prefer it to my body without one but like having a "light" weight option. Cant imagine NOT having the little hand strap though - Vello has attachment point and the other goes to camera body strap fitting point. enjoy.

I have one for my F100 and my D750 I have always felt more comfortable with a grip. Seemed to fit my hands better with one on. The F5 I inherited is obviously built into the body. The Fuji XPro2 has one available but I didn't get it, nor I doubt if I will to be honest.

Maybe for weddings or long sports venues. In most cases they are a pain. To me it's like carrying an extra spare tire in your vehicle. You can usually get by with one, but they can be a lifesaver when you need one.

I love my grips
Camera cannon D70 Double battery, makes flash recycle very fast, nice to have option to use one battery or two and came with battery cartage for AA batteries in a pinch , easy to hold, extra shutter release button when doing portrait shots.

Bought one for my 7200, not OEM, and it worked fine, hardly ever used it. It fits on the new d500 but frankly I've never found the need. It's a lot cheaper to drop a spare battery in your pocket and change batteries if necessary.

I use one on my D7100. It is a heavy package, but for portrait mode, it is invaluable. Incredible for fireworks......

Why is it incredible for fireworks...A tripod is necessary for fireworks. But a battery grip??? Maybe I'm missing something.

I use battery grips on all my "serious" cameras: two Sony A850s, an A99, and an A7R. I'm used to the extra weight on the three A-mount cameras, so the grips stay; on the A7R, the grip transforms the camera into a beautiful instrument (meaning in fits my hands better), not to mention the extended battery life I get out of it. The extra shutter release button for use in portrait mode is a nice, if unnecessary, extra.

I disagree - grips can make smaller bodies a lot more usable, in the hand, espcially when using some longer lenses.

I agree. I prefer handling my D7100 with the grip on and before I sold the D7000 I always used the grip on it. I also have a grip on my old D200 and the extended battery life is good. The only time I think about removing the grip is when I know I will be doing most of the shooting on a tripod because the smaller body seems more maneuverable on my tripod.

Live view for fireworks?? Can't imagine why. Most fireworks display for about 30 minutes max...barely registers battery usage on my Nikon D7100. I set up camera in manual, about F8 or 11 and 4 seconds on tripod and wired remote...release shutter at any sign of action...checking display for decent exposure. Basically shooting solid for about 30 minutes.

I see many posts on live view for fireworks... so just conjecture on my part....

I have two Battery Grips for two of my four DSLRs. Rarely use them though.

Always on a d7000 and a d800. My hands fit better and I find I take more portrait photos when my arms are not extended like chicken wings. Increased stability too. With the second battery I don't remember a time when I have run out of juice. They also help balance the camera better.
