I have a Cannon 6D with a 24-105L f4 lens, lately I have gotten this error. I have tried my EF 70-200L f2.8, 50 1.8 and 24 2.8 and not gotten this error. This error does not happen often, but it is concerring me. Is this a canidate for repair? Also, My Cannon Rebel T3i with a 15-55s ef-s 3.5-5.6Is giving the same error. Itried cleaning contacts, removing battery and card but error will reyurn.

ERROR 1 is a lens communication issue. Try cleaning the contacts on the lens and inside the body. If that does not do the trick then you have a lens AF motor failure pending.

The 24-105 lens has a known problem with one of the ribbon cables failing inside the camera. That is most likely your problem.

I sent the lens to ROYAL CAMERA SERVICE, INC for repair. $240 + shipping and now it is working great.

I have had the same issue with a Sigma 18-250 on my 80D. It worked for about 6 months, then started to fail. Cleaning contacts did not help. However, this lens continues to function properly on my T2i. I never did get it to work on the 80D.

Lens problem. Same thing happened to me. Clean the contacts or have it repaired as suggested above.
