Thanks Jerry
Now I know why I had to pay so much for a Buick. Fake holes must be expensive. I hope the rest of the car is not a fake but they are a nice car.

It must have been something to see those portholes light up as the cylinders fired. Of course, this was a few years after WW II, when the image of flames coming out of a planes' exhaust would have been fresh in everyone's mind.

I learned to drive in my Dad’s ‘55 Buick Century, it was a big boat of a car.

I could never understand the reason why, all Buicks have those holes on the side. I thought it just aged them.

Now they're gone, so they'll be forever young!

Thanks Jerry!
I had a friend who removed the driver's door handle and installed a push button in one of the 3 holes to open the door. Was very unique.

Clever. He should have left the door handle there but disconnected it.

Surprised how many did not know this! In 49 Buick advertised "one day all cars will have holes in the sides." And no I'm not quite THAT old.
