We're heading to South Carolina in a few weeks. Will be spending a few days in Charleston, then driving to Myrtle Beach for a week. Anybody have any tips on great photo ops or any must see or must do?

The angel tree in Charleston. You can check it out on the net.

In Charleston, consider Patriot's Point, The Citadel, the Battery, the harbor at Mt Pleasant and the lighthouse, the market off Meeting St., a boat ride to Ft. Sumpter, Drayton Hall, Magnolia Plantation and the Mt Pleasant bridge at night.
Murrells Inlet Marsh area, south of Myrtle Beach. While taking in any of the good restaurants, and watch the smaller boats as the tide goes in and out (check tide charts).
I'm Myrtle Beach, I'd try to photograph the following: Brookgreen Gardens (this would be a day trip) and across the street, Atalaya. There are beautiful trees, flowers, and statues at Brookgreen. If you enjoy night photography, the SkyWheel on the Boardwalk.
Huntington Beach State Park...south of Myrtle Beach. Excellent for shore birds, wood storks, herons, egrets oh my! Also spoonbills if they're still there. Across the street is Brookgreen Gardens...beautiful place for flowers and statues. Both right on rt 17. Have fun!

Charlotte has a air museum that has the plane that went down in the East River a few years ago. They have reassembled the plane at the museum. The plane was headed for Charlotte when in landed into the East River. They also have a video you can see about the incident. They also have other historic war planes there. Very nice place to visit.
In Charleston you can run out SD cards, plenty to see Rainbow Row, the, Charleston Battery, Fort Sumter, Patriots Point, Hunley Submarine Museum just to start.

Make sure you stop in Georgetown out of Charleston. beautiful old homes, and nice shopping area.
Heading North on 17 be sure to visit Brookgreen Gardens. Well worth the stop. and cost!

TriX and cedymock are spot on. For beaches: Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island. Old Mt. Pleasant (Old Towne) and Shem Creek: good photography sites. Old Christ Church in Mt. Pleasant could be a destination...old cemetery. About 30 +/- miles northeast of Charleston is McClellanville (Google it)...lovely historic village...walk to Leland Oil Company, home to lots of shrimp boats (say Hello to Rutledge). There are lots of great restaurants for every budget in the Charleston area, but two of my faves (if you like to shoot food images) are Gaulart & Maliclet ("Fast and French") on Broad Street and Fleet Street Landing. You can walk across the Ravenel Bridge (Charleston to Mt. Pleasant). Charleston City Marina....for boats. Near Angel Tree (definitely a must-see) is a craft beer brewery (I forget the name). I will look forward to seeing some of your images!
Huntington Beach SP and Brookgreen Gardens near Murrell's Inlet. Birds and gators if you catch the tide right in the salt marsh.

Don't miss having lunch or a drink at the Ryder Cup Grill at Kiawah golf resort. Right on beach with great view.
