It is an odd view of a heron, that's for sure!

Not a heron that is to be found in "The Audubon Encyclopedia of North American Birds". The bill, legs and feet are not at all heron-like. In fact, they all look like something in the duck family. Where was this bird seen?

Definitely a Great Blue Heron. Relatively common around ponds and marshes here in Kentucky. My favorite bird, and I've taken thousands of shots of them, the latest just this morning in Georgetown, KY.

The south end of a north bound heron is my most usual shot. Getting one flying toward you will really get your heart racing!

Hello Mac,

Don't know why you are being such a hard case on this, but you are flat wrong about the OP's image not being a blue heron. And since you put up yours, here are some of mine.

Guess I need a new Rx for glasses. Maybe a few stem cells injected into the brain, too. Does anyone know where I can get cells?
