You've given us a lot of useful information. I have some old Minolta lenses that I may try out on my Sony A230; they have the depth of field indicated on them. Thank you for this information, easier to follow than what is in the manuals.

Having read all three of your articles, and my being a nubee, they cleared up a lot of my confusion about how to use my new 80D and what the settings do. I am going to practice using this information to transform it into knowledge so my pics become photos.
Thanks so much!
By the way... I've printed this all out and put it into my camera bag for immediate reference.

Thanks, Sirius_one. That should be fun trying those lenses and DOF scales. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the results you get.

I've used that technique quite often. I really regret the day that lens manufacturers decided to quit placing those scales on lenses.

Thanks so much for doing this! Can you please explain how to do the scales on my 70 200? Is it with the lens or moving your distance from subject?

SCaldwell, chances are it's with the lens. I'm only guessing because I'm not sure of the situation you are describing. More importantly, does your 70~200 have the DOF markings on the lens? I'm assuming it does from your question. It's getting late here, Phx time. So, I may not be able to answer until tomorrow evening.

Joe,
You're very welcome. At this point, any more are going to get rather technical. But, we'll see. I tend to read the posts here quite a bit and from that I may get some ideas and post some small articles from time to time.

That took a lot of one persons mind and I for one appreciate the time you took to donate it to us.
