Approximately a month ago someone posted some free photo editing software programs. I would appreciate if they would repost them. Thank you.

As well as GimpShop being another. This version gives you more of a feel of Photoshop.

Picasa from Google is not bad for a free program. You did not mention whether you use a PC or an Apple computer, which can make a big difference.

Besides the totally free programs, most of the major programs, (Various Photoshops, Capture One, Etc.), all have something like a 30 day free trial period.

If you don't mind spending a smaller amount of money, look for an older popular version that does what you want. I receintly picked up a brand new Photoshop Elements 5 when version 9 came out. It only costs me about $20.00 and does close to what I want.

When it ran on sale, I ended up purchasing Capture One. Now I'm happy!

Image Tricks Lite is free (not a tria), upgrade for $10 - lots of fun things like the following image... Glowing Edges - done in a few steps partly in CS5. I have a Mac, the program cuts out every once in a while, but a small price to pay for some great filters... lots and lots of them, including the page curl shown below - something I always wondered how people did.

Fun Kaleidoscope things, too.

I was using Aviary for a while before I upgraded to CS4 and it was my main editing program for photographs, I loved it and it's got potential for beginners!
