Mystery Russian (?) Car

On a recent trip to St Petersburg, I spotted this beauty while crossing a street. I'm growing weary of comparing it with other cars on google and other sites. Originally, I thought it to be a Lada, but now, I'm not so sure?

It's a Lada, probably a Model 5 (so says my Russian co-worker).

Except for the lack of body rust, it looks like a Lada onto which someone has cobbled a custom grille.

Body identical to a Fit 124, therefore I would say it is a Lada.

I think it is a Lada Riva (see photo) with some pretty amateurish modifications.
