Is she being restored to flight status or will this be a static display ?
Nice shot of the Allison V1710 too .
Of course the F4U uses a Pratt & Whitney radial . Tricky airplane to fly , but lethal . Achieved a 11:1 kill ratio against the Japanese in WW2 . Some argue that she was better than a P-51 . Rugged airplane . Nice photos .

Thanks Machia...only a static display sadly as the cost of getting it into the air is prohibitive...we can't even start the engine up as the cost is the same...

Great to see that these old warbirds are being preserved and restored. Hope to hear that she makes it back to flyight once again.

Sadly only a static display...the cost of getting it into the air is prohibitive...

Went up to the Museum this morning for some update pics of our Corsair (No. 02270) restoration. For those following the work, here are the latest pics...plus a couple of other pics from the Museum...

Is she to fly again , or just a static display ? Either way , preserving history is a great thing . But these birds were born to fly ! Nice photos .

This plane has a lot of history being the oldest known Corsair in the world...No. 02270.
Pretty much everything was hand built by the guys in the Museum...
The guy in front in the first pic is my friend Bob Jarrett, he's the Museum Director...
