Hello everyone. I am new to the forum but have been reading the forum every day for months. A cup of coffee and this forum is now my new morning ritual.
I purchased a used E-M5 because it came with a new 12-40mm 1:2.8 Pro lens (at a very reasonable price) which I am now using on my E-M10 II. I do however want to set up the E-M5 which I have except for one item. I cannot get this camera to preview an image after taking a few shots. I have tried quite a few settings but I cannot figure this one out. I believe it should preview when pressing the right arrow button but all I get is the AF grid. I downloaded the manual but it is not much help. I also upgraded the firmware. Can anyone help?

Press the playback button, the button with the blue, right pointing arrow.

Have you looked in the manual?
I formatted the card. There are only a few test shots.
There is no playback button.
Yes I have. It says to press the right arrow button. When depressed it brings up the green focus grid. I checked button assignment and compared them to my E-M10 II and everything looks to be in order.
I have the new E-M 1 mk 2 and it sounds like the previous owner reprogrammed the buttons and put the focus grid on the playback button. The manual for that camera has a section dedicated to button reprogramming. Good luck
The first thing I did was a reset and then a firmware update. I have gone over the button assignment but will check again with the manual. It's a new day so maybe I'll see something I missed.
I got it! The normal reset was not cutting it so I did a factory reset with the hidden menu. All is well and functioning as it should. Also, for a 5 year old camera it has less than 3000 shutter count. Thanks everyone.
If you want to customize your viewing time go to the setup menu and set up review time in record view. Can be viewed from 1 to 20 sec.
Yes, it is there. I could not get it to work until I did a factory reset.
