Hi, My name is Bob.
I have a Nikon E8800 [Zoom Nikkor ED (8.9-89mm 1:2.8-5.2) 8 meg. 35-350 10 X zoom]. It takes good still, but very poor video. I also have a Canon DC50, which take very good video, poor stills.
Are there any new models today that combine the kind of option of the Nikon with great video like the Canon DC50 in one camera?
Consumer Reports ran a June 2015 report saying that the Cannon Power Shot G1 X Mark II had “Superior Stills and Video quality.” Is there claim accurate? A lot of ratting give high marks to cameras, however, I believe it all starts with the best still and video quality, the rest is only gravy, or deal breakers, so to say. Are there better options today?
Thanks. Any insight would be appreciated.
Best,
Bob

And I believe that the extra gravy is what makes the best still and video quality. For that you need Nikon's D850, D5, D810, D750.......
I have a G1X II and I've used it to record concerts and I use it to take photographs. It does a darn good job at both, especially for an oversized pocket camera. I've also done both with my SX60HS. The end results are also pretty good although not as good as the larger sensor G1X II. The audio from the G1X II is also pretty good.
