I don't think the issue really is that no one wants "non-citizens" to vote. That is just a smokescreen statement.

The issue is keeping ineligible people, mostly illegal immigrants, from voting. There is no justification for an argument that if you live here you should be able to vote. If you live here and want to vote, you have to be a citizen. In order to vote, you must register. For some reason, a lot of illegals and fictional persons were signed up by "the seed of the oak tree" in hopes of gaining political superiority for the mules. It is smart to purge the voter's lists of all felons, people who have moved out of state and the deceased. Also, be aware that there is no Constitutional "right" to vote.

No, Konica, that is not the issue. Illegals rarely try to vote because they do not want any interface with the authorities. They do not want to be caught and deported. The issue is that the Republicans are using this as a smokescreen to try to diminish the number of Democrats who vote.

Yeah, I see it. Democrat non-citizens voting in an election is about as useful to our political system as dead people somehow voting in elections and that has gone on for years too. If Democrats can only win a state by having illegal non-citizens voting for them, then they don't deserve to win now do they? I can see this. Can't you?

For every illegal non-citizen voting, a vote by a legal citizen of this country is negated. It's criminal and Florida's governor is trying to eliminate this criminal act. Every other state in the country should be too.

I have to show my ID at the polls everytime I vote. I sign my name, too even though the people know me.
So? What's the big deal with proving you're capable of placing your vote. You do have an ID, right?

The voters he is trying to eliminate are the senior citizens who live in places like Kings Point in Delray .... they have voted for years ... gave up their drivers license and now can't get to Motor Vehicle to get a valid non driver ID .... isn't their entry on the voter rolls enough ....

You ARE missing the pointy, aren't you ? What Florida is insisting upon is a photo ID. Most people have only a driver's license to fill that bill. The elderly, many of them, do not drive. They do not have driver's licenses or other picture IDs. Yes, they can go get one, but that means they have to pay, and many of the elderly, in case you haven't looked over the fence in your walled community, are very poor. Not only that, for the very elderly, the simple act of going to get an ID is a major task, too difficult for many of them to bother with. Requiring them to get a photo ID is intended -- INTENDED, mind you -- by the Republicans as a way of weeding out many members of a group of people who tend to vote Democratic.

Since I can see the way your beady mind works, let me anticipate your next smart remark, which will be, "If these elderly people don't drive, how do they get to the polls ?" The answer is 1) By bus; 2) By walking (for the fortunate few); 3) By being driven to the polls by others, including members of the Democratic Party who want to get out the vote.

Requiring them to have a photo ID is not so much because the Republicans want to be sure everyone is a legal voter, but rather to reduce the percentage of people voting Democratic by eliminating some of them before they get to the polls.

If I can understand this and many millions of other people can understand this, how come you cannot ?

If they can get to the polls, they can get to the facility that issues State ID's. States issue them at no charge , at least the ones with voter ID laws do, and some states send out roving buses just for doing this. Come up with another excuse...

Hello PatrickTheCop

You are what I call real Democrat one who does use his mind to think clearly, when I was a registered Democrat I voted for the best man to do the JOB. Your comment is spot on. I sure hope more of the folks like you vote this White House bunch out of office. I do agree we do NEED VOTER ID.

Allow me to flat out call you a liar sir. The only other alternative being that you are the most naive person alive or just a political bigot. I am a registered Democrat and I most certainly do not think non-US citizens should be allowed to vote nor am I, "sure as hell trying to make sure they do." And just for the record, this is one Democrat that is not now nor has he ever been a fan of Obama. The man didn't have the experience to lead a congressional committee in my opinion, much less the whole country. And, as far as I am concerned, he has proven just that. Anyway, my point is, you can not make a particularized character assessment against an entire group of people like that because it will almost always be wrong.

And to be perfectly clear, as a registered democrat, I fully, unquivocally and without reservation support voter ID laws. No ID no vote is the way I feel personally. Regardless of anyone elses belief be they dem., republican, independant, or have any other party affiliation.
