Received this from a neighbor ...

"Good evening all. Our daughter is one of the lead photo journalists at the Washington Post and she forwarded me these before and after images of what Harvey did to Houston. Give what you can to the Red Cross or the Salvation Army.

Thanks for caring!

Best regards,

Pete

What a disaster! Cleanup will not be fast.

I saw a headline yesterday, "Will Texas be able to Rebuild without Illegal Labor?"

God hates Texans, Harvey is proof. Summers are getting hotter, and winters are getting colder, so the climate IS changing....for the worst. The oil companies, and coal companies, and chemical companies, are largely to blame. Hurricanes are getting stronger. So are rains, and floods. Tornadoes, blizzards, etc, will also. Enjoy the damage, and loss, or do something about pollution.

I agree with you. As it is getting so bad I would just lay down and die or hurry up the process. No use sticking around to see if the sun will come up tomorrow and you might wake up with it.

As I recall 10-50,000 years ago similar things happened to the earth or worse and we seemed to work it out just fine for the rest of us.

With that out of the way, try to get a grip. God doesn't hate anybody and hasn't since he had Moses and his followers kill off an entire village of terrible people back in the Old Testament. There are sinners in every state, not just Texas and Texas has done nothing sinful out of the ordinary.

We live on a huge planet. Hurricanes have come and gone for millions of years.

Just sit back and keep drinking the Kool-Aid. God is alive and well in Texas and we love him

From my memory, 1956, of south Texas (Kingsville & Corpus Christi & east) it is fairly flat. So the ability to drain is not great. Dredging a slot in flattish land can not, hydrologically, improve drainage. While some areas only got 20, 25 inches others got towards 50 inches of rain - that easily overwhelmed the drainage capacity of flattish land.

Al Gore is a good, decent man who would never write such things. Equating the horrible words of one jerk to all who do not share your viewpoints is still another example of the extreme polarization in the USA that is nothing but destructive. I thought we were here to share our passion for photography and some humor, not go off on one another because of extreme opinions. Geez!
