Sometimes there aren't any good answers. Sometimes the least bad answer is the best you can hope for. The main thing that has changed in the equation is instead of one of the parties possibly not being rational, now there are 2 parties who may not be rational. Do you have an idea for an answer? Trump saying we won't trade with anyone who trades with NK isn't even credible. We would destroy the economy of the planet. I don't know if we would be hurt more or less than the rest of the world but it would probably be the depression all over again. Why he's threatening SK is beyond me.

Where do you get that he drinks a lot? I don't know that he doesn't but I hadn't heard it before. I hear that he's pretty rational considering his circumstances. Trump admires him (words from Trumps mouth). We could easily clear Korea of any life but we would sure be a pariah after that, and deservedly so. Hundreds of thousands of Americans and millions of Koreans would die. I don't know if it would cause war with China but it seems likely.
