I love my Nikon... both of them, but if I already had Canon lenses, I would not have purchased Nikon.

I don't know any longer. Expensive lenses I would of course think about it but I"m tempted to sell off my D500 and get the D850 and I really like the D500. If I had extra cash or made a living doing photography that would be another story and I'd already ordered the D850.

Sony's Carl Zeiss lens image quality and sharpness I don't have to say much, I don't think so and may be others too if Nikon got the better glass compare to Sony Zeiss, of course price wise Nikon is better.

Over the years I have tried many DSLR's Canon and Nikon. Started out my Canon world with the original Canon Rebel (300D or D300) it was a great camera. At that time only had 2 lenses and one was the 18-55 kit lens which took great pictures. After purchased a Nikon to give it a try, shot about 2000 images with the kit lens and ended up selling it. Yes I'm a Canon guy and own 3 Canon bodies and several Canon, Sigma and Tamron lenses for Canon. If you have an investment in one camera stick with that brand as lenses are expensive, and Canon makes awesome glass, but not cheap for sure...My 7D markII is the best for sports and action, the 5D series is a great Full frame camera...If you're a Canon user and have Canon glass why change, just upgrade...

I say stick with Canon but possibly a different model than you referred to. The Canon 77D might be a better choice. The Nikon D750 is like moving from a Civic to a Corvette. Are your driving skills and budget up to it? The Mazda 6s (V-6) or Toyota Camry LE V-6 might be a better step. If you know cars. (note, I have not checked for current models so that is just an analogy.)

Personally I've love to have a Nikon D810 or D850, but it will likely be a Pentax K-1 or K-3ii as my next upgrade. And a Ford GTr would be a great car! Though since I only know how to drive an automatic a Corvette would be my better choice. But a 600-700 HP car would probably kill me at my age!

I say stick with Canon but possibly a different mo... (show quote)

You see more Nikon cameras and lenses being sold in the classifieds because people wake up and realize that Nikon is a sinking ship and behind the times, and feel that even with their investment, its time to switch to Canon. Nikon users sell and switch. Canon users stick with Canon and dont sell nearly as much.

I am new to this form and value any input, I presently own a Canon Rebel T1i and looking to upgrade my camera. I have two cameras in mind and can not deside which one to buy ! The Canon 7d2 or the Nikon D750. I never had a Nikon. No wildlife shooting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Karl; Allow me a few words regarding Kit Lens. Unless you upgraded your 18-55 kit lens then yes your lens is long on tooth. I recently upgraded from a T3i with a 18-55mm kit lens to a Canon Refurbished 80D with the latest 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 STM kit lens. Boy ol boy, between the 80D and this kit lens I really saw a difference. I was able to buy the 80D with the 18-55 f3.5-5.6 STM for $799.00. That kind of price beats the 77D by $50.00 without a lens. Your 70-250mm is a good lens. I am using the Tamron 70-300 f4, bought used for 150.00. This a very good piece of glass for the price. My next lens is my newer baby the 24mm F2.8 pancake lens. Wow so much better than my old kit lens. In fact, I will not buy the nify fifty f1.8. I will just crop to the same image size.
Looking at these savings, you would have enough monies to buy the Sigma lens plus a couple yongnou flashes and other tools for expanding your photo capabilities. I added reversing rings to use for macro. Filters of higher quality like B&W. A Good heavy duty Tripod with spare quick release plates. I bought a wireless remote from Cowboy Studio for less than $30.00. A couple spare batteries.
Well, finally, You may want to consider your friend if he has lens which you could obtain from him or jointly buy a special lens{ what a can of worms LOL}. Anyway, you should take stock of all your items. Then see if what updating or grading is necessary for expanding your photographic journey.

Because Nikon's optics are head and shoulders above Sony's.

But if that was the main argument, then everyone would jump to Canon. (Or Sigma the way they are putting out great glass.) But it is the system that counts. How everything works together. Sensor, glass, focus system, etc... Still goes to Canon as a system though.

But if I were starting over, I would go mirrorless since in a few years those systems look like they will rock. They just need a few more good lenses.

Oh, I agree. You are buying into a system and depending on what you shoot there are several systems to consider. Since the OP states he will be shooting sports the two best (whole) systems for that would be Nikon or Canon.
