I love my D810, there are some nice features and upgrades on the D850 that would temp me to purchase. I'm in no rush, I suspect I'll wait a few months to see what what people are saying before pulling the trigger.

On recall I meant something like the problems on the D600 (oil spots), D800 (left focus point issue) or D750 (to many issues for 4 or 5 recalls).

Yes I too have been eyeing the D-850, however I did have a D-600 and after 3 return trips to Melville, Nikon did swap me out with a 610. However I am not totally happy with the amount of dust and yes oil, I get on that that sensor also. I will wait a year, and re-address the camera in a year!!

I didn't have the D600 but I do have the D610 and do not have oil spots on that camera, yes it gets dust, but so does my D4, D800, D810, D7200, D500, D7100 or even my D2X. I clean the dust off with a rocket blower or if the pollen type that sticks I use a wet cleaning.

Yea Rocket blaster works fine for dust, and every time you swap out a lens you do take the chance of dust, but Pollen. That interesting. I do have to use the wet cleaning to remove it. It's sticky, smears and hard to get off. I have to wet clean 2-3 times a year. and I do take all the precautions I can when swapping out lens and never remove a lens at an airshow. Pollen instead of oil??? With the history of the 600 I assumed it was oil on the 610. Could be pollen thou.

It will be interesting to see if running it in the 25 Meg mode gives lower noise at high ISO.

Good point.

Already sold my D810 and have been ordered for a couple of weeks. I'm expecting this version to be much more useful for shooting sports action than the previous one.

Anyone considering pre-ordering the 45 MP Nikon D-850 ? Reviews look pretty good. The new "tilt screen" in a pretty nice new feature over the D-810 along with a faster and more accurate focusing system.

According to Nikon today, they have announced that they will not be able to fulfill all of the pre-orders for the D850. If you have not already pre-ordered it, you will be in for a long wait, just like when the D800/800E and D810 came out, same thing happened.

Besides, with Nikon's past history of new camera releases and problems, if I was going to order the D850, I would wait to see if any issues arise with it.

I have a D810, it is my last camera. Very pleased with it. 36mp is plenty. Don't need a tilt screen.

According to KR:

3 image sizes settable for RAW, JPG or TIFF images: Large (45.4-MP), Medium (25.6-MP) and Small (11.4-MP). Especially with raw images, this greatly reduces file size while preserving raw quality, and the 25MP and 11MP settings result in sharper images than if shot directly on cameras with that lower resolutions because starting with 45MP largely or completely eliminates Bayer interpolation.

I preordered from Adorama and will use my D-800 as a backup. My D-800 has right at 100,000 shutter releases so I justified the D-850 as a replacement. I guess my previous backup (D-300) will go to a Grandchild for their learning experience.
