I can't see where the butterfly is hiding his zoom lens.
What a wonderful photo. It is so sharp I feel like I could reach out and touch the butterfly.
Beautiful image and excellent lighting and have been trying to id the butterfly! Was it a Western or Lorquin's admiral, or something other than those?
The photo was taken in Idaho--does that help ID it? I don't have a book.

Yes it greatly helps, and the Lorquin's Admiral pictured in my "Butterflies of North America", guide book on page 160 looks almost identical to your image! Thanks, and beautiful image!
