Called a local office to get one for my wife, I have had one for a number of years. "Oh yes, we have them." Drove up and guess what? ...sign on door: "WE ARE OUT OF PASSES." "Well, do you give rain checks?" (which they were supposed to do,) "NOPE"

Wound up purchasing on line.

Yes, I know mine was good for her and anyone in the car with me, but I wanted her to have one if I were no longer around.

Best thing about the pass, they are good at Corp of Engineer campgrounds for 1/2 off daily camping charges. It has paid for itself 20x over.

I already had mine but my wife wanted her own card. We went to Cades Cove in SMNP and got it. The ranger made her sign the card in front of her.

I purchased my Golden Age Pass when i turned 62, that was 28 years ago, and it has paid for itself MANY, MANY times over. The passport is honored at the following: Any of these locations... Bureau of Land Management; Bureau of Reclamation; Corp of Engineers; Fish and Wildlife Services; Forest Service; National Park Service; Tennessee Valley Authority.

Rich...
P.S. Do not give your pass to anyone else to use. It will be confiscated if you do.

I called the National Park Service at Benbrook Lake yesterday (Ft. Worth, TX) and asked about driving there and buying an annual pass. She told me not to waste my time. They were out of passes and would not be getting anymore in. Same story at all the other offices in the DFW area. She said they were not prepared for the onslaught of requests and my only option was buying online and paying the extra $10 processing fee. It's still a bargain at $20.

Went to the nearest location to me (South Shore Long Island) which was Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay. Got to Northern Blvd & saw a sign that said "Closed Monday & Tuesday." It was Monday.
Turned around & ordered it online for $20. Done.

I got one yesterday at the BLM office here in town off Hwy 50. My wife has had one for years which we used to get into Federal parks but I thought I should have one in case I wanted to go to a Federal park on my motorcycle and she wasn't with me.

I just saw this online. It could take three months to get a pass if ordered online. When I got mine yesterday, there was no line, and they had a lot of them available.

"Until the current backlog of Senior Pass orders are shipped, your order confirmation will be honored for use at agency sites.
If you need your pass in less than three months, consider purchasing your pass at the first site you visit. "

I've had mine for 14 years. The only place I visit regularly that I can't use it is Custer State Park in So. Dakota (because it is not a national park). Works great in Yellowstone, Glacier, and all the vast number of Federal parks. My wife also has one. Each one admits the whole carload free. When traveling with family, she goes in one car and I am in the other. Get one before the price goes up.

Yes, it's a lifetime pass for free access to all national parks. The pass includes national conservation areas,
too, and perhaps other areas.

Not sure if it is free access at ALL National Parks or not. I believe the entrance fee may be a discounted fee at SOME parks. Where I bought my senior pass, the regular admission fee was $18.00, but with the senior pass it was discounted to $6.00. Just what I encountered. I bought 2 passes, both with my ID, just in case I lost one I would have a backup. They are not replaceable if you lose it, but can be replaced if they are damaged, as long as you have the original one in whatever shape it is in. They make you sign the pass right there in front of them, so if you do buy two, they will have your name on it.

I went to Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge to get mine yesterday which is only 35 miles away. They know me there and knew I was handicapped and my nephew was with me and he is also handicapped so they issued both of us one for free. I didn't know about these until they mentioned it and they said you get the same benefits. So if you are handicapped you can get one for free. I'm 66 but my nephew is 49 so age does not matter if you are handicapped.
