Does anyone use this platform and have any comments about it, such as ease of use, reliability etc. Thanks.

From Wikipedia "FileZilla's source code is hosted on SourceForge and the project was featured as Project of the Month in November 2003. However, there have been criticisms that SourceForge bundles malicious software with the application; and that FileZilla stores users' FTP passwords insecurely." Is there nothing better 14 years later?

I use it all the time. Reliable, no issue and free.
Only one issue (that is not really one) frequent updates...

Those issues are not with soundforge but with those who promote the product and make it had to download the product...

If you download from the filezilla site there is no issue.

I have been using FileZilla since it was recommended by GoDaddy some 6 or 7 years ago. Simple, easy and as mentioned it is free. It receives my five stars.

FileZilla is probably one of the better, free, applications you'll find. As an IT manager, this is the only ftp client I allow. It's ease of use and reliability are second to none.

Rongnongno is right... always download from the program vendor's own site....NEVER Sourceforge....they like to trick you into clicking on a installer package that has malware and/or spyware! My antivirus catches it but such a site should be seriously steered clear of. Here is Filezilla's page: https://filezilla-project.org. Filezilla has a great Session Manager (your FTP upload sites) and the ability to sync your computer's file directory with your website so that if you click on on lets say an Img directory in one side (e.g. your website) the other side will also open to view the files in its Img directory. Filezilla also can export its Site Manager entries to a file that can be imported to another install of Filezilla on another or a new computer! I write websites and only use Filezilla...it just works and the frequent updates tells me that they are keeping that program up to date! By the way, if you work with a lot of files between computers or other backup drives look at Scooter Software's Beyond Compare (https://www.scootersoftware.com). Been using that for years and it just can't be beat to update backups or even online storage (it also compares any two files contents-good for programmers).
Lastly, if you store a lot of images on your hard drives a neat and free (for home use) bulk renaming utility (http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php) makes customizing an entire folder's file names a breeze! So instead of images that look like: img_7213.dng, img_7214.dng, img_7215, they can look like: cades_cove-8-23-17_(1), cades_cove-8-23-17_(2), cades_cove8-23-17_(3) etc. The interface is great and will show you what the filename looks like as you tweak the individual settings. Try it out. I have included an image of the utility.

FileZilla is a great package (do download direct); it DOES store passwords insecurely. I use it anyway.

I used FileZilla at work. Simple and intuitive because straight ftp is not. Unfortunately CyberSecurity blocked access so I had to transfer the .exe from my old desktop to my last new desktop. Since you've posted the direct source, I'll download it straight from the source and use a completely unique password.

Filezilla is a good FTP client and is fairly secure. The issue is how the data is stored on the client PC. In healthcare, the client is supportive of federal HIPAA security requirements so it should not be a concern for the average user. When using Filezilla - always try to make the connection through sFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) . Otherwise there is a high probablility that the data being transmitted can be intercepted - even using SSL (secure socket layers).

Cute FTP is the exact opposite - information is collected and retained by the application and the Cute FTP client should NEVER be used for transfer of sensitive data. The Cute FTP client also sends data to the maker of the client software and should be avoided at all costs.

It is a very good FTP program with tons of features. As mentioned, the main thing to be aware of is the installer; the first time, if you download it from Sourceforge, will try to trick you into ad-ware. If you are paying attention, you can skip it in the installer. All the future updates are very secure.

The question of FTP and security is another topic, this is just a client (it can do sFTP and use certificates).
