Nice set Sue.

During last fall's visit to Orkney, Husband and I decided to drive down to South Ronaldsay to visit the Tomb of the Eagles, a 5,000yo neolithic chambered tomb. Shortly after leaving Birsay a sea fog rolled in, blanketing the whole of the island for the entire day and severely limiting photographic opportunities. However, I did manage to get a few interesting shots.

Nice set - the fog limits what you can do, but also challenges your composition skills - well done!

Lovely pictures! I too liked #6 a lot--a really ghostly feel. You are an intrepid traveler to keep to your plan in spite of the fog.

It was very wet - apart from the fog, it had been raining almost every night of our stay in Orkney. My shoes were totally soaked as was my hair (and what's left of Husband's - LOL!). Thankfully we were wearing water resistant jackets!

Terrific images Sue. Second one is my favorite. My wife and I have made several trips to Scotland but have never visited Orkney. Have been to Skye. Would love to go back

The whole Orkney experience is wonderful - we took the train from Edinburgh to Thurso, then a 90 minute ferry ride to Orkney where we stayed at a self-catering flat called "Annie's Place" and became friends with the owners. There is ancient history at every turn - "Annie's Place" is next door to St Magnus kirk which dates back to 1062 and there are standing stones and Neolithic burial cairns and whisky distilleries and the list goes on and on! We've been there twice and are talking about a possible third trip next year.

Fascinating group of images, especially the one looking down from the cliff. Fog can give a photo such an air of mystery.
