I have an opportunity to buy this camera online for $1000,000. It comes with the camera body, 4 batteries, and 2 compact flash and SD card. Does it sound like a good deal, and what should I look for when I go to pick it up to make sure that it is in full function?

That's a reasonable count.

I think he used it mainly for videos. What should I look for when I go to pick it up I will bring my own lenses to test it but is there anything else that I should look at?

Hopefully, Canon 5D Mk III owners will add comments.

I already went to the eBay site that you sent me, and I just got done reading the article on buying a used camera. Thank you very much for the information.

I'm not sure how to translate "$1000,000" to USD. The joystick on one of my 5DIII bodies broke that I had Canon repair, so you should make sure that doesn't have any problems on your body. The finish scratches relatively easy, so look over any cosmetic issues on the external of the body. Take a picture at f/18 of an all-white surface (or completely clear blue sky) and check for any sensor dust. Pop the cards in and out, both CF and SD. Beyond the ideas in the link above, there's not that much you can do other than mounting your lenses and shooting some images. Put all the batteries into the body and check that the camera recognizes them and shows a meter of how fully charged they register to the camera. Hopefully, the cards are at least 32GB. Otherwise, they'll be relatively small for use with the files produced by this sensor.

Good answers all... my 5D3 has about 89k clicks and still performs like a new camera. I did have Canon factory clean and check it several thousand clicks ago. The 7k clicks that you quoted means that it's still a "new camera". Go for it... even if you discover something relatively minor wrong, the Canon refurb folks can fix it for much less than you might guess.

A thousand dollars would be an excellent price for a 5D3 with 7K clicks if in good condition - I would expect more like $1500-1600, although that may have dropped a bit with the advent if the 5D4. In addition to all the excellent advice form chgcanon, take a look in the card slot with the CF card removed, and ensure that there are no bent pins. BTW, it's an excellent camera for the $ with good high ISO performance and very solid build, used by many pros.
