I believe the Fringer adapter is for large format Contax lenses.

The Techart Pro adapter is what you want. This will give you autofocus with just about any lens you can imagine. It's expensive (~$300?), but if you have some nice old lenses or you just like experimenting the Techart is fantastic. Connect the e mount side to your camera, adapt ALMOST ANY lens to LM mount, snap it into the Techart and you'll have autofocus using PDAF.

I purchased a used Sony LA-EA4 adaptor on Ebay for $206.00 US. It provides full autofocus for any 3rd party, Sony, or Minolta lens made for a Sony A mount cameras.

My Sony a7 won't leave home without the sony-zeiss 55mm; the salesperson at the shop I use said to me after I paid for it---" that is the best lens for that camera"

David, I don't need an adapter, the a7 is full frame. I also have Nikon lenses and i have a simple non af adapter for those lenses. I have Canon EF lenses with an af adapter, but the af searches too much, so I use manual. Also have Canon film lenses(FD) that are manual. I'm in the process of saving for another Sony af lens, probably the 28mm or the 35mm...

The question in my mind is whether it is worthwhile to buy the Tamron lens and an expensive adapter, for $800, or spend a few hundred more and buy the 24-70 Sony lens which was constructed for the camera. $800 for an adaption of a Tamron Lens or $1,000 for the Sony lens?

I purchased a Sony A7Rii (FF) a couple of months ago and I am in the process of slowly changing out my APS-C lenses to FF. I kept my A6000 because it is such a great little camera for travel. The lens I use most on both cameras is the Sony 18-105mm OSS G lens. The 18-105 is even better on the A7Rii in crop mode than on the A6000. I am very happy with it, but of course I am not getting the full benefit of the FF sensor. I shoot landscapes mostly. I love the range of the 18-105 but I don't use the long end that much.

The 24-70 G Master is too big and heavy (and expensive) for a walk-about lens. I am considering going for a used FF Sony Zeiss 24-70 F4. However, reviews for the Zeiss seem mixed. I am wondering if I would get any benefit in color, sharpness etc over the crop 18-105 G. Being able to get bigger prints is not a serious consideration for me.

Anybody Hogs been through this scenario? How do the 18-105 and 24-70 compare in terms of IQ when used on a FF Sony?

FYI, .....you can use the Sigma 24-105 f4 OS Art in Canon mount ( $900) and use the Sigma adapter to e-mount ($250) - it is a pretty nice lens .....!

I agree with you. A Sony native lens (24-70) is more appealing than a Tamron and an adapter, UNLESS the Tamron is a better lens than the Sony.
