Well new to me and not a toy
Marlin 1894 25-20 wcf Mfg. 1902
Purchased last month after waiting for a year for the price to come down to what it was actually worth. Due to the age and use there was no real collector value left in the gun.
However it appealed to me!! I paid just a tad more than half the asking price, the paid another $275.00 to make it a good serviceable shooter.

Sorry for the poor I/Q, I had already put the strobe away when I realized I had screwed up on the DOF.

Nice! Will you purchase ammo, or do you handload?

Looks nice. Is that an octagon barrel?
I don't think I have heard of that caliber.

It looks like a much older version of my Marlin, a .444 that is about 45 years old. Enjoy your new firearm.

At over $70.00 for 50 rounds I will buy a couple more boxes then reload. I also own a 32-20 single shot that I built in the late 1970's, I am in the process of building a single shot 25-20 barrel for the 32-20.
Waiting for a reamer to get here then back to the machinery.

Yes 24" octagon, your just too damned young lol, The parent round 32-20 is ballistic similar to the 30 cal carbine , but not quite as noisy.

I think the .444 was built on a larger frame version of the model 336

I presume then that you have a serious lathe. Is that a 25-20 Winchester or 25-20 Single Shot?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's a .25 (.258) cal. bullet on a necked down 32-20 case. If I remember correctly, 25-20 means a .25 cal. round and 20 grains of powder - is that correct manglesphoto?

I have a small lathe of 1948 vintage Southbend. The round 25-20 WCF there were rifles and handguns chambered for the round.
I am setting up a new barrel for a single shot rifle I built on a 1901 Harrington-Richardson shotgun action.
