Keep your feet off the dashboard. It may be restful, and it looks cool, but it could be a major mistake.

I've known about that for some time and I always want to yell at folks when I see them do it.
But I keep my mouth shut so as not to get shot at.

I suppose getting an old car without air bags would be safer. : )

I now drive with hands at the 8 and 4 o'clock positions. If the airbag goes off, my hands, wrists, and arms will be spared. It's less tiring, too.

That makes sense describing anyone that would keep company with you.

Do you also use the push-pull method of turning corners so an arm is never across the wheel? Click & Clack recommended it and I have been a devotee ever since.

Of course. I remember my grandfather doing that in his 1937 LaSalle.

Can't do it out here in the summer anyway. Airbags less of a problem than burning them to a crisp.
Good tip on the push-pull method. Sometimes, you just have to think and act in spite of the technology. lol

When my girlfriend and I took a cross country trip in a fixed-up Econoline, I just stuck my feet out the side window. Much safer! Hey; at least I wasn't driving at the time.
